Production Stage Manager
Pay Rate: $16.00/hr.
Job Summary
The Production Stage Manager (PSM) is hired on a contract basis per show. They are responsible for overseeing the rehearsal process and all performances. The stage manager acts as the focal point for all show related communications. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, responsible, and detail oriented. As well as calling the show, they must keep a meticulous book that details all of the show’s movements and cues. They are contracted from the first production meeting through the stage management strike of the show.
Job Responsibilities and Duties
Ability to lead rehearsals
Organize and keep a show book
Communicate all schedules to the show company
Track all props, set pieces, and quick changes
Call every show
Oversee a crew of various skill-sets
Adhere to all house, safety, and equity rules
Collaborate with the production team to trouble shoot any issues
Discuss amount of crew members needed with Production Manager at the beginning of the process
Can read and follow music
Knowledge
Understanding of the artistic process
Proficient with Microsoft Office
Understanding of staging terminology
Ability to lead in a stressful environment
Experience in calling shows
Knowledge of Equity and House rules and regulations
Communicate effectively verbally and in writing
Experience creating and updating a show book.
Education and Experience
Minimum Requirements:
Must be at least 18 years of age
Bachelor’s Degree in Theatre or Technical Theatre from an accredited university or possess equivalent professional experience
2+ years of experience in a professional theatre environment; preferably with some equity experience
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED
Physical Requirements:
Ability to bend at the waist and lift items up to 50 lbs. to waist level
Ability to move items up to 50 lbs. for distances of 25+ feet
Ability to remain standing and active for an 8-12 hour shift
Indoor activity with prolonged exposure to windowless work area
Frequent exposure to fluorescent lighting and low light conditions
