Dresser


Pay Rate: $12.00/hr.


Job Summary

The Dresser is a member of the Riverside Wardrobe Crew and is responsible for ensuring the successful running of performances for the costume department. The ideal candidate will be a great communicator, have basic costume repair knowledge, can follow instructions, and is self-motivated to complete their daily responsibilities.

Job Responsibilities and Duties

  • Working with the Wardrobe Supervisor to assist with running and maintenance of costumes

  • The successful candidate will have a solid knowledge of standard maintenance and dressing

  • Experience with both hand and machine sewing

  • Have a positive attitude, strong communication, time management skills

  • Be able to routinely stand for extended periods, lift thirty pounds and climb stairs

  • Properly communicate with supervisors and department heads

Knowledge

  • Strong communication skills

  • Proper handling of costumes in a show run

  • Costume repairs

  • Proper etiquette with actors and staff

  • Ability to communicate conflicts

Education and Experience

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age

  • Preferred if candidate holds or is working toward a degree in Technical Theatre (or related field) from an accredited university or possess equivalent professional experience.

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a professional theatre environment, and or 1 year as either an assistant or a department head

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

  • Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to bend at the waist and lift items up to 50 lbs. to waist level

  • Ability to move items up to 50 lbs. for distances of 25+ feet

  • Ability to remain standing and active for an 8-12 hour shift

  • Indoor activity with prolonged exposure to windowless work area

  • Frequent exposure to fluorescent lighting and low light conditions
