Front of House Restaurant Manager

Job Summary

The Front of House Restaurant Manager of the Riverside Center for the Performing Arts is responsible for the day-to-day operation and management of the main restaurant/dinner theater, audience seating area and oversees all service staff. The Front of House Restaurant Manager is responsible for seeing that all patrons are welcomed and oversees their safety and well-being before, during and after the show. The Front of House Restaurant Manager is responsible for interviewing, hiring, and training of all servers, hostesses, assistants, and runners. The Front of House Restaurant Manager is responsible for the cleanliness and upkeep of the theater dining room and contact areas. The Front of House Restaurant Manager strives to ensure that the Riverside Center for the Performing Arts continues to be a vital element of the community working to support the Mission and Vision, to create a positive work environment for all employees, and provide an outstanding experience for patrons.

 

Job Responsibilities and Duties

  • Manage staffing, including contract negotiation and management;

  • Demonstrates excellent communication and interpersonal skills;

  • Supervises hiring, training, workloads, schedules and deadlines;

  • Oversees the operation of assigned responsibilities and provide analytics review;

  • Creates reports for the Executive staff;

  • Provides input to the Chef and Producing Artistic Director on technical and financial analysis of actions related to and associated with responsible area;

  • Maintains a positive and productive relationship with customers serving as the spokesperson for the Riverside Center for the Performing Arts;

  • Maintains a visible leadership role in the company and work closely to fulfill and advance the Riverside Center for the Performing Art’s mission and vision.

 

Knowledge

  • Strong communication skills;

  • Knowledgeable of operation of Point of Sale and scheduling systems;

  • Knowledge of appropriate business software;

  • Ability to handle, maintain and protect confidential information;

  • Ability to problem-solve and facilitate solutions to problems;

  • Ability to work productively under time pressures and to meet deadlines;

  • Ability to work independently and exercise excellent decision-making skills;

  • Able and willing to work evenings and weekends;

 

Education and Experience

Minimum Requirements:

  • Prior experience with food service management and service;

  • Proven ability to oversee all aspects of a scheduling staff and employee interaction.

Physical Requirements:

  • Indoor activity with prolonged exposure to windowless work area;

  • Ability to stand for long periods of time;

  • Ability to routinely lift, carry and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds;

  • Able to perform duties with or without reasonable accommodations.

 

A Riverside Team Member:

  • Practices proper time reporting (i.e., punches in and out accurately);

  • Arrives at work on time, in the proper work attire, and ready to work;

  • Maintains a professional appearance and proper work attire;

  • Demonstrates a helpful, positive attitude at all times to guests and employees;

  • Understands and adheres to all safety, sanitation, and administrative procedures;

  • Ensures complete and timely communication to all employees and the Board of Trustees;

  • Completes all assigned tasks and duties requested;

  • Collaborates with the Box Office staff to facilitate seating and meet special requests;

  • Completes other duties as assigned.
